Unlike Sapa's main town, Dien Bien town is less traffic, clean and better well-organized. A very peaceful city town  which highlighted by many historic sightseeing places and really has the most beautiful, largest rice valley of the whole Vietnam. The sites in Dien Bien Phu require a lot of your imagination.

The Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), created in April 1954, was a permanent border until 1975 and saw some of the fiercest and bloodiest battles of the American War at places such as Khe Sanh Combat Base, Doc Mieu Base, Dakrong Bridge, ‘Rockpile’, the ‘Ho Chi Minh Trail’, Vinh Moc Tunnels and the Ben Hai River.

After the Dien Bien Phu victory which defeated the French in 1954, Vietnam was divided at the seventeenth parallel, only 100km north of Hue, where the BenHai River and the xzone (DMZ) marked the border between north and south Vietnam until Saigon’s liberation on 30 April 1975.
